About Soap Bucket
A small house building a collection of AI tools — each one independent, self-hostable, and useful on its own.
Soap Bucket makes developer tools for the gap between APIs and AI agents. There is no single product to buy and no platform to adopt. There are three tools, and you can pick up any one of them without the others:
- SBproxy — a reverse proxy that doubles as an AI gateway. It governs every API, agent, and model from one self-hostable runtime.
- clictl — a package manager for AI agents. It turns any API, CLI, or MCP server into a sandboxed tool an agent can find and call.
- mcptest — an LLM-jury test runner for MCP servers. It catches the model-drift regressions that schema validators and integration tests cannot see.
The tools share a point of view: AI infrastructure should be something you can run yourself, read the source of, and reason about. Nothing here requires sending your traffic through someone else's cloud.
Soap Bucket is built by Rick Crawford, a software engineer who has spent his career close to APIs, infrastructure, and the systems that connect them. You can find his work on GitHub and reach him on LinkedIn.
The tools come out of real use: things that were missing while building with agents and APIs, made solid enough to hand to other people.
